Becoming a Lean Leader

Who is the course for?

It’s for managers and leaders who want to learn how to take the lead in delivering lean improvement projects across their organisation.

The course can be tailored to suit your workplace or sector (such as manufacturing or healthcare).

Step 1: the training

This 3-day course will teach you the importance of leadership and how to develop a high-performing team. You’ll learn about the need to link strategic objectives to actionable goals, and how to identify, display and manage daily performance targets. You’ll also learn about leading by example through process confirmation and leader standard work.

Step 2: putting the theory into practice

Supported by one of our expert lean coaches, you’ll practise your new learning and skills in your own organisation, where you can deliver a significant strategic benefit to the business.

Programme outline

  • 3 days of face-to-face training delivered in a single block. Supported by access to additional reading, course materials and templates
  • Knowledge verification via a combination of a multiple-choice test and open questions
  • 6 x 1-hour-per-delegate of coaching support with one of our expert lean coaches

  • Submission of a case study (or extended A3 project) showing the application of learning in a practical context
  • A curated forum for delegates to exchange ideas and receive ongoing support and direction from their peers and PCE coaches
  • Certificate of completion and approval to Lean Competency System Level 1c
  • Maximum number of delegates per cohort: 8.

Requirements

Delegates must already be certified to Lean Competency System Level 1b or currently working in a suitable leadership or improvement role. Direct entry to this course requires a short qualification interview and submission of evidence of prior understanding and application of basic lean / continuous improvement principles.

Please allow around 3-6 months to complete and pass the accreditation.

Location

This training is most effective when delivered face-to-face at your premises or a location of your choice. But it can be delivered online if you prefer. We also run open training sessions at locations around the UK.
