Mike is renowned as a thought leader in operational excellence leadership, lean systems thinking, and developing leaders as coaches. He has extensive world-class experience in lean, OpEx and business performance improvement across a wide range of manufacturing, service and public sectors.

Mike has worked in consultancy and senior leadership coaching roles for more than 20 years. And this, combined with 25 years in the manufacturing sector, has shaped his outlook and values for business and people excellence. His approach to scientific learning and human performance development has enabled him to pioneer several innovative methodologies and systems for helping his clients lead and enable new working practices.

Mike has designed, developed and facilitated programmes for several top organisations over the last 20 years, including for Network Rail, Bombardier Transportation, Victrex, Daimler Trucks NA, INEOS Inovyn, Westinghouse Nuclear Fuels, Mercedes-Benz and Rolls-Royce Aerospace.

He was one of the first ‘Lean Leaders’ at Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK and is regularly asked to deliver talks and write articles on lean management, lean thinking and value-added leadership. Mike is a bestselling co-author and is the designer and lecturer on Glyndwr University of Wales’s lean module for their Executive MBA programme.

Industry/sector experience includes: automotive, aerospace, marine, rail, construction, printing, plastics, security, nuclear, healthcare, local government, cash services and ship building.
