Ian is a pragmatic and experienced management consultant and interim manager, working with senior leadership teams in the aerospace, defence and automotive sectors.

His enthusiasm for business transformation, operational excellence and performance improvement in manufacturing comes across in all his work interactions. With more than 30 years’ industry experience, he’s supported numerous companies to navigate change programmes and successfully improve their bottom-line results.

Ian has a degree in mechanical engineering, and he trained in transformation techniques including lean and Six Sigma to Black Belt level. He’s held top management positions, as well as other interim management roles. And he has a strong background in quality management systems, helping businesses to gain and retain AS/EN 9100, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 9000 and Nadcap for surface treatments and composites manufacturing.

His recent work includes:

• Interim MD for a Tier 1 commercial aerospace supplier in Europe. Ian provided the technical leadership for the bid/proposals team to produce a full-scale, multi-million euro bid for a fuselage structure assembly work package for a new aircraft programme.
• Interim MD/CEO for an aerospace and defence tooling business in the UK. The assignment included due diligence and acquisition of an established tooling supplier in administration, and the securing of funding and a long-term contract with a Tier 1 defence customer. The business was brought out of administration, with a solid two-year order book, and a five-year business plan was developed with a focus on diversification and growth in new technology.
